About Our Products
We have been working to advance peace through fair trade for more than twenty years. PeaceCraft
originated as a project of the Berea Interfaith Task Force for Peace in 1988. The Task Force is a grassroots
501c3 not-for-profit organization of volunteers from various faith traditions who share a commitment to
peacemaking and social justice issues. PeaceCraft evolved as a practical expression of the Task Force’s
belief that there can be no long-term sustainable peace without social and economic justice. The basic idea
behind the store, then and now, is to market products made by people in low income areas of the world in
order to build economic relationships that are based on living wages and local control of their workplaces and
community resources.
Who We Are
Our Staff
Amy Weinfurtner currently serves as PeaceCraft Manager. She began her work at PeaceCraft in 2007 and is
excited to be a part of the growing Fair Trade Movement. She notes that "When you buy Fair Trade
products, you know that your spending dollar is working to directly benefit farmers and artisans, as well as
their families and communities, instead of the big retailers. This is economic responsibility in a global sense.

Our Volunteer Coordinator is Monica Laramee. Steering Committee Chairperson: Katie Basham
Volunteers.
We have about 20 volunteers who work in the store 2 or 3 times per month. PeaceCraft is also always
seeking volunteers to work in the store Monday through Saturday. Volunteers are especially needed throughout
the holiday season. Applications are available in the store, or send an email to Amy Weinfurtner at
peacecraftinberea@windstream.net.
.
The PeaceCraft Steering Committe.
We also have a steering committee which is responsible for developing long term plans, including organizing
off-site events, marketing, financial planning, and implementation of our education outreach programs. We are
currently looking to expand the Steering Committee. We welcome anyone who has a strong interest in
furthering fair trade, peace and economic justice. For more information, or to submit a volunteer application
to serve on the steering committee, please stop by the store at 307 Chestnut Street or send an email to Amy
Weinfurtner, store manager, at peacecraftinberea@windstream.net. There is a special need for
volunteers with expertise in the areas of marketing, graphic arts, or accounting.

PeaceCraft is a nonprofit fair trade shop in Berea, Kentucky that exists to promote peace through economic
justice by marketing and selling fairly traded handcrafts on behalf of low income artisans in developing
countries who otherwise have little or no economic opportunity. The sale of these products at PeaceCraft
helps them and their families pay for housing, food, education and health care. We also support educational
outreach on issues of global economics, international trade, cultural diversity and labor rights.
